Two types of pictures available in these galleries. The first group are low resolution pictures. The second group are high resolution pictures that are available in a range of resolutions from high to low.

The advantages and disadvantages of the low resolution picture galleries are as follows:

	They download very quickly
	They use up very little disk space
	They are inexpensive
	They are ideally suited for education & informing (reports, slide shows, greetings, documentaries, multi-media presentations)
	They are ideally suited for websites and ezines
	They not suitable for commercial printing

The advantages and disadvantages of the high resolution picture galleries are as follows:

	Lower resolution versions are available so these pictures have all the benefits of the low resolution pictures just listed.
	The high resolution versions of scenery and public property are generally suitable for commercial printing, advertising and small posters.
	They high resolution versions are more expensive and take longer to download.

Photographs in this site are in JPEG (or JPG) format. This compressed format downloads quickly and takes up less disk space.
